Medicare definition of homebound or “confined to the home” is covered in 42 USC 1395n (a)(F).
May be a condition due to illness or injury that restricts ability to leave home except with assistance of an individual or supportive device.
May be medically contraindicated for the patient to leave the home.
May be a situation that requires considerable or taxing effort to leave home.
Patient not disqualified if leaves home for treatment, physical therapy or attendance at religious services. |
